Northern Restaurant, near Furong.

There is a chain of restaurants that are North Eastern Food, you can find them all over Changsha.  Agh blanking on their name.  I think it is something like Dongbei blah blah.  My favorite one, because of convenience, and patient, kind owners.  It is across the street from the Sheraton, on Furong Lou.  Between Yingpan Lou and Bayi!  This is a great place to go if spicy food isn't really for you!  They have all kinds of different flavors and delicious vegetables!

One of the main reasons to go to this restaurant are their delicious dumplings.  They are really quite good you can get them steamed (蒸)Zheng.  Then you order by the "long" which has about 10 in a steamer basket like the one above.  So "yi long" has 10 dumplings.  Or you can get them boiled (水)then you order them by something else and they are done by weight not by price per basket.

They have all kinds of delicious fillings:
Jiucaijidan 韭菜鸡蛋 Egg and Chive for you vegetarians
Zhurouxianggu猪肉香菇 Pork and mushroom
Zhuroudabaicai猪肉大白菜 Pork and Bok choy? (not sure about that one)

(I don't remember the name)This is a delicious dish of peanuts, cilantro, green onions, balsamic vinegar.  It is tricky to eat with chopsticks and extremely salty.  But very delicious!  I highly recommend it!
This is everyone's favorite dish!  Eggplant, Peppers and Potatoes.  Called "Disanxian"地三鲜(not sure about the last character).  It is not spicy, it is salty and a bit sweet.  Very filling!
Not pictured but definitely try the following:

Guobaorou锅巴肉  Sweet and Sour Pork, tastes similar to Chinese food abroad
Laohucai 老虎菜 Cold salad: cucumbers, spring onion, garlic, peppers in a vinegar sauce
tangbing 糖饼 Sugar Dough, it is fried dough with sugar inside delicious
Jingshirousi 京 肉丝  I don't remember exactly what this is called but if you say Jin Rousi they should know what you want.  It is shredded pork in a delicious sauce and they give you tofu wraps to wrap it in.

New Dishes at a New Restaurant!

Welcome to Dong'anJiGuan 东安鸡馆  欢迎你!  A new restaurant on Furong Lou, across from and a little bit south of the Sheraton Hotel.  This place is amazing, reasonably priced, but without pictures on their menu.  Also they give you rice, you don't have to ask for it separately!

Dong'anJi 东安鸡  Dong'an style chicken, this is apparently a southern Hunan speciality.  It has a ton of ginger and tastes very lemony!!

Wosun 莴笋 Chinese Lettuce.  Just basic stir fried with oil and garlic!

Jiucaihexia 韭菜河虾, Chives and River shrimp, huge chunks of garlic and hot peppers!  Freaking delicious!  You eat the shrimp whole, as far as I know.

Qingjiaochangdou 青椒长豆:  Green Pepper fried with green beans.  Delicious!  Not too spicy!
